Modern Renovation Engages Visitors on Krusinski Construction’s Site

Overview

Our redesign for a construction company’s website is improving user engagement and increasing site traffic and visibility on Google.

The Challenge

Krusinski Construction Company has been a design and build general contractor and professional manager of construction services since 1973. The company has built a respected history as a reliable partner in the Chicago metropolitan and Midwest regional markets, coordinating everything from preconstruction through occupancy. The company’s website was outdated and lacked functionality, and didn’t showcase Krusinski Construction’s capabilities. The principals wanted a site that clearly showed the company’s extensive experience, personality and broad service offerings.

The Approach

Krusinski Construction has partnered with The Simons Group on a full suite of marketing initiatives since 2008, and when the time came to improve the firm’s online presence by rebuilding their website, the principals asked for our help. Krusinski Construction wanted a dynamic new content management system (CMS) that would look modern, be easy to update and optimize the company’s presence among the top search engines.

The principals wanted to focus on key markets that included manufacturing, recreation, warehouse/distribution, office, health care, retail, religious institutions, education and hospitality. The Simons Group proposed design options that would highlight these markets while adding features that clearly announced the company’s services, news and extensive history. We selected a WordPress CMS platform, which allows Krusinski to add and revise content easily and without having formal coding knowledge.

Key additions to the site include:

  • Portfolio – The Simons Group created an expandable gallery that would feature hundreds of Krusinski Construction projects. The portfolio allows users to view all projects or sort by the markets they’re interested in.
  • Video – The principals can now post and manage project videos, client testimonials and industry thought leadership quickly.
  • News – The news section allows Krusinski Construction to reap the SEO benefits of a CMS site. This section houses project awards, white papers, newsletter content and company news.
  • Client Access – We customized a portal that gives Krusinski Construction clients access to a central, secure area, where they can view monthly reports, schedule updates, project photos and more.

The Results

Krusinski Construction is extremely pleased with the new site, and feedback from clients has been uniformly positive. The most notable improvement has been the increase in Google traffic, as shown by sample analytics that compare traffic in the three months before the site was launched to traffic three months after the new site was live:

Audience overview

  • 46 percent increase in visits (2,389 versus 1,631)
  • 38 percent increase in unique visitors (1,844 versus 1,334)
  • 57 percent increase in page views (9,267 versus 5,907)
  • 11.5 percent decrease in the bounce rate (43.5 percent versus 49.2 percent)

Organic search traffic

  • 27 percent increase in organic search traffic
  • 10 percent increase in new visits (853 versus 772)
  • 37.5 percent increase in page visits (4.6 pages versus 3.4 pages)
  • 87 percent increase in average visit duration (3:05 minutes versus 1:39 minutes)
